            What I am now curious about is what became of him since birth in 1907, Netherwood Cottace/s, Dumfries, Dumfriesshire and his departure for Western Australia in 1926; unfortunately; he was born between the 1901 & 1911 Census, the latter I understand isn’t available for general viewing until 2022?

                Good afternoon Judy:

                I don’t know about an “Attachment”, as I didn’t post any to my knowledge.

                What I am now finding is, that there seems 2 McKIE families; One emigrated to Canada, living and dying there, whilst the other remained and died in Scotland and it is the latter that is currently demanding my attention and more so that there was a Walter McKINNIN born Scotland the year the McKIE’S emigrated to Canada without a Walter which seemed odd at the time.

                My interest in the Canadian McKIE’S came about after a comment my mother made to the family many years back now to the effect that if they ever wanted to find their family; look in Canada which I have done, so would reckon there is a connection in there somewhere, yet to be found.

                Regards;

                Good morning Josephine in Queensland which you won’t allow us to holiday for the winter for the past couple of years, but then New South Wales is currently in Lockdown due to the increasing number of COVID19 cases being detected and the fools rebelling against the lockdowns across states.

                You must remember that I’ve only known Walter McKINNIN/McKIE since being reunited with a lost mother mid-1988; Walter being very secretive about his past, but along the way; did drop a few clues as to his past; some true, some not so, with an element of truth which is only now being revealed.

                He did celebrate his Birthday on the 10th of April, but as to the year born; it varied, but always maintained Born Ireland which is now proving incorrect.

                Yes; I’ve William McKIE Marrying Agnes THOMSON which I believe is correct, but other have William Marrying Agnes GORDON, but on FindAGrave I find she is buried as Agnes Gordon McKIE and both in the USA and Canada; the brides tend to retain their born Surnames, so: I don’t know what to think about that?

                That’s wonderful new about Walter departing England in 1926 as previously no record could be found of his coming to Australia, but then; we were looking for Walter McKINNIN, so thank you ever so very much for this find which adds to the great Jig Saw Puzzle.

                Re Walter T McKIE Marrying in WA: I had him Marrying Christina M Nelson in 1931, E Coolgardie, WA; I had her born about 1914?

                I don’t know about James & Isabella dying in WA as I see there are about 12 deaths in WA after Walter would have arrived as with the privacy ban; I cannot find children born to Walter.

                I would be interested in where you found Walter’s wife’s details and about the 2 children found dying?

There is an extensive biography on Find A Grave.  The parents of William are different as to the information provided on here.  This may/may not be the specific family for whom you search.

                Good morning Marjorie;

                Of late I seem to be finding the most difficult of families to be research and this is definitely one of those as Walter McKINNIN/McKIE only came into my life mid-1988 when It was found my Mother was still alive after having left us in 1946.

                Walter McKINNIN as he was always known was very secretive, but up until his death in 1989, he did drop a few clues along the way and our mother told the family that if they ever wanted to find family; look in Canada which meant nothing at the time, but does now and many of the dropped clues are now becoming fact.

                I hate to admit it, but I also am very confused and more so with your findings as although I had otherwise; what you found seems more plausible as William & Agnes McKIE did emigrate to Canada 1907 and did live Keewatin, Kenora District, Ontario, Canada.

                What you found for Agnes McKIE most certainly fits in with what I had re when Born and it most certainly fits in with where she lived etc and as to her Husband William? It will be most interesting to see where he died and is buried which I would expect to find the same.

                Thank you ever so very much for this information which I am currently going through and am amazed with the commentary found on the website which overall agrees with what I have found, but differs a bit and also the added Christian names which I’ve not before were aware of.

                So very much to go through.

                Thank you;

                May I first say I am amazed at the interest found and the information found re Walter McKIE as my family was reunited mid 1988 (Split 1946) when research started in earnest, but the family was searching for Walter McKINNIN said Born Ireland, whom they believed Walter was, but now finding him to be Walter McKIE; a few of the clues he did drop are now becoming reality.

                It would seem William McKIE’S parents were James McKIE Born about 1853 & Mary BROWN Born about 1847.

                I see you are from Ontario? It’s a long story; but my Mother told the family many years back that if they ever wanted to find family; look in Canada which is now proving to be correct.

                Morning Judy:

                Firstly; I have just started this line of research as since mid-1988; the family have been searching for Walter McKINNIN who said he was Born in Ireland, but had connections to Scotland, recently finding his true surname to be Walter McKIE and many of the clues he did drop are now coming into reality.

                At the moment; I’ve not a lot to work on, but when they left Scotland in 1907; they went by ship to Montreal. Quebec, Canada and thus far; I’ve only them there in the 1921 Census at Bay Street, Keewatin, Port Arthur & Kenora, Ontario, Canada.

                I have William Dying 7 Oct 1952, The Thornhill Hospital, Morton, Dumfries & Agnes About 1949; this information being obtained from other researchers.

                Being new to this line of research and this list; I am having trouble getting further as I am unable thus far to find any of the family returning to Scotland.
