Re: Edinburgh
I didn't figure there was one on io groups. If someone wants to set up a group for Edinburgh then by all means do it.

Re: Edinburgh
There are lots of lists for Edinburgh, but none at Groups.io for genealogy and family history that I've seen.
Anyone can search all the groups here: https://groups.io/search

How to control your messages
Hi folks, the topic keeps coming up from subgroup members (County Angus, Borders and Marches, Islay, Moray and Selkirshire so far) about why they are seeing all these posts they aren't interested in.

Re: Islay
Diane, you say below that you don't have to get emails from both lists if you don't want, but didn't say how to do that! Many of us want the Islay feed but not the Scots feed.

Re: Thomas Smith b 1854 in Shetland
Try the Canadian, USA and Australian census for after 1871. Those were the most common places to emigrate, I think. I would start with the 1881, then the 1891....worth the try. Good luck, Goldie

Re: Islay
Yes, I agree. I thought it was just Islay, but I am inundated now with other emails. So much so that I’ve been thinking of unsubscribing as there’s too much that’s of no relevance.

Hi
The Islay group is a sub-group of the Scots group. We seem to have be automatically subscribed to both.
