To make genealogy groups work for you, post what you know, what resources you have consulted, and what you want to know. Be sure that your subject line accurately "advertises" your post so that those who need to see it will click on it in a digest.
One of the strengths of the Groups.io system is that you control what you want in your inbox. Choose how you want to get email: https://groups.io/static/help#subscription-options
Ensure that people can find you in the Directory by making your profile public. Everyone who wants one can have a profile for each GIO group to which they belong. Login to the group (no password needed) and see your name in the upper right, in the blue bar, and click to get the drop-down. Click on Account, and then choose Identity. Within that Identity screen you can upload a photo or other image of yourself and any genealogical information you want fellow group members to know. You can have one generic listing or special information for some groups; for instance a Gedmatch kit number for groups who deal with DNA data.
