Hi Merle The tendency to concentrate on male lines because those give
continuity of surname means that I know very little about my
McArthurs, as Mary McArthur was my mother's mother's mother. Mary
was born in Kilchiaran in 1850 to parents Alexander McArthur
(agricultural labourer) and Margaret McLellan. She married John
Campbell from Ballachlaven, Kilmeny in 1876 and died at Ayen in
1935. Ayen is between Ballygrant and Bridgend, near Ballimartin.
