Thank you to Sue and Iain for letting me know that I was heading in the wrong direction with my research. Sadly, that puts me right back at the "brick wall" with no idea where to go from here because I have such limited information to work with. Do you perhaps have any suggestions or possible resources that could help me find a Mary McArthur born in 1820 on Islay that emigrated to Canada sometime between 1820 and 1849?  Oh well, I'm afraid I may never get past this brick wall.

chasing. Finding Mary and John’s marriage would help as it hopefully gives
Mary’s parents’ names.

The Parish number for Kildalton is 541. The copy you have is parish #539. I would check with Scotland's People. You may have the wrong page.

If it helps, in the book "For the People's Cause", it says that John Murdoch was born in Lynemore in the Nairnshire parish of Ardclach on Jan. 15, 1818. He was the second child and eldest son in the family of 9 children born to John Murdoch and Mary MacPherson. Thank you to those who responded regarding "Torrantungary", I'm trying to get a photo of it onto my computer so I can send it. It used to be so easy with my old camera and old computer. Like them, I'm feeling like a Neanderthal. Please bear with me while I try following the instructions backwards or upside down. Toni

Hello everyone,
I am hunting down a McDougall/Currie link, and I am wondering if any of you might have these people in your respective trees, plus further information.
Euphemia (Effie) Currie married Hugh McDougal at Kilmeny in 1855, and they had a daughter named Anne in 1860. There might be other children, I am not sure.
The other items I am not sure of are Hugh's parents and Effie's parents. As everyone well knows, the number of McDougalls and Curries on Islay makes this extremely difficult to follow. My own Jura McDougalls went to Islay in the 1840s, also muddying the waters a bit.
Any information, or leads for me to research further, that you may have regarding Hugh, Euphemia (Effie) and their children would be greatly appreciated.
