Hi Ken.
I have Euphemia Morrison McFadyen the daughter of Finlay Morrison & Effy McTaggart of Kilchoman parish. Born 1830c : She is listed aged 20 with her parents in the 1841 Census at Corsabell in Kilchoman parish. I am not convinced by data that is not proven and the above is always subject to challenge Regards Roger

Brown Family (Rodger, James, Roderick), Killarrow, Argyll
susanmargaret2
Rodger Brown (born 1823), married Janet (Jessie) Bell (1831 - 1896). They settled in Grey County, Ontario, Canada in about 1853. Roger's parents were James Brown (1798 - 1871) and Isabel Campbell (born 1801). James' parents were Roderick Brown (born 1773) and Catherine McPherson. I've been away from the research for quite some time. I may have to get back at it, as perhaps more information has surfaced. Susan Murphy Sent from my Galaxy Tab® S2

Re: Islay
Diana
I have long had a 'brickwall' concerning my g.g. grandparents on Islay, but with the renewed interest and more DNA studies, I'm hoping someone might be able to enlighten me. My g.grandmother, Mary McArthur, christened 14 Mar 1840 at Islay House Farm, was daughter to James McArthur, b. abt. 1805 (Ag lab at Islay House), and Annabella McGilvray (b. abt. 1807), Marriage, 13 Feb 1827 at Kilchoman. Annabella was daughter to Archibald McGilvray (b, abt. 1776, Kilarrow, d. 5/04/1859) and Margaret McInnes (b. abt. 1772, Kilmeny). Archibald's parents were Alexander McGilvray and Marion McTaggart. Marriage, 21 Mar 1773, Kilarrow (names on certificate were 'Alex McIloray and Marrion McIntagart). So far, so good with that.......problem is with the elusive James McArthur. Still trying to find if he was from Islay (marriage certificate says he was from from Kilchoman at time of marriage), and some subsequent census taken says he was. Copy I have of his death certificate ( June, 1866, Glasgow) with info given by widow, Annabella, says his parents were Duncan McArthur and Mary Currie. Can find nothing anywhere, so far to confirm. Roger McWee could not find as to Islay, and have turned up nothing via Scotlands People that might shed some light in a concrete manner. I am not particularly savvy as to computers or research, so hoping someone might fill in some of the gaps in this family, as younger members of my family are now interested in their lineage, for which I am grateful. Interesting. I have a Flora Brown b 1806 married to Nicol Keith in Islay. They had a son Roger Keith married to Roger was not a name that had previously been used in Keith family as far as I can see so I am thinking that perhaps an earlier Roger Brown may be linked to both of us Regards Johan

Hello, all.........
It appears I incorrectly submitted my query in a reply to a question by another wishing info as how to contact Roger McWee....I apologize for the error, and also forgot to include my Gedmatch number in my post. I plead the vagaries of 'older' age, and insufficient attention paid. Having said that, I submit Gedmatch #T648451. Fingers crossed, here. Diana Vandiviere

So, better details.
I’m Dixie Cutler and live in Surrey, BC. I have been researching since 1998 and discovered — among other things — that I do have Islay ancestry although there is NO truth to the tale that my grandfather’s mother-in-law once owned Islay! Here is what is true: Colin McCaig, my GG grandfather, born, illegitimate, Bowmore 18 Aug 1831, married 15 Jul 1859 in Pollockshaws, Renfrew, died there 21 Jan 1867 Lachlan McCaig, his father, born Bowmore, 2 Aug 1809, died Colonsay 28 Sep 1889. Colin's mother was Catherine McArthur “native of Kildalton” died before 1859. Lachlan’s parents were Alexander McCaig (McCaog, McCowaig) born 1761, died 8 Aug, 1843, kill arrow and Florence/Flora McNeil born 1776, died 1836 Killarrow. Parents of Alexander could be John McCaog & Janet McDougall. Parents for Flora could be Duncan McNeil and Ann McLennan. I’m enjoying the GedMatch info but — so far — I ( A650732) am related nobody! I have public tree on ancestry: Bower Family Tree Dixie Bower Cutler

I well remember Robert Keith from Saskatchewan. We met several times when he drove to Ontario to attend Islay descendants' gatherings but also to visit family who still lived in on the 'home' place. He was self taught not only on a computer but also typing so sometimes his correspondence could be a bit challenging. He loved sharing. I admired his efforts.
I realized that I hadn't heard from him for months and started tracking him down. I managed to connect with his sister Wilma and was told he was in a nursing home. Robert and I chatted several times and he was hoping that he would be able to soon have his computer where he was then living. After that I couldn't find him nor could I connect again with Wilma.
